Striker Simon Terodde saved Hamburger SV in Darmstadt from their sixth winless game in a row.
This means that the Hanseatic League remains in fourth place and on the heels of the front runner from Kiel.
First, Terodde met in the 70th minute in the margin, after he failed with a penalty to 98 goalkeeper Marcel Schuhe.
In the 87th minute, the striker made the final score.
For the 32-year-old, there were ten and eleven goals of the season.
Tobias Kempe scored to equalize in the meantime (78th) for Darmstadt, who ended the game after a yellow-red card for Patrick Herrmann (74th).
Holstein Kiel successfully defended the championship lead.
The North Germans won 3: 2 (2: 1) at Jahn Regensburg and are ahead of Greuther Fürth, who also won on Friday, and VfL Bochum with 22 points.
Jae-Sung Lee (32nd / 37th) and Fin Bartels (66th) scored the goals for Kiel.
The people of Regensburg only occasionally presented themselves as a possible stumbling block for the more playful and, in the end, more effective guests.
Albion Vrenezi took the lead with a long-range shot after Jonas Meffert lost the ball (17th).
In stoppage time, Jan-Niklas Beste was able to shorten.
With the third win in a row, 1. FC Heidenheim has increased the concerns of Hannover 96.
Led by Christian Kühlwetter, Heidenheim defeated the guests from Lower Saxony 1-0 (1-0).
Thanks to the ninth goal of the season by Kühlwetter, the Heidenheimers moved up to fifth place for the time being.
The Hanoverians of coach Kenan Kocak, who improved in the second half, initially remain 13th, but can slip further on Sunday.
