Starligue: high-risk trip for PSG to Nantes

2020-12-13T12:04:06.577Z

The Parisian leader begins this Sunday at one of the top names in the French Handball Championship before a week full of big meetings

It is the week of all dangers for the handball players of PSG.

Impeccable (10 matches, 10 wins) for the moment, the French champion will chain three meetings against top-of-the-table teams.

It begins with a trip to Nantes, this Sunday (4 p.m.).

And this is undoubtedly the best way to prepare for Final 4 of the Champions League at the end of December.

A week from hell.

The program is tempting: in six days, PSG will therefore move to Nantes (5th with two games less), then go to Montpellier on Wednesday (2nd with one game less), before receiving Dunkirk (9th) on Saturday.

In view of the classification, the first two meetings are the closest on paper, especially that of Montpellier.

The most successful club in French handball is still undefeated, like PSG.

We should not underestimate in advance the Dunkirk, who made a great start before stalling.

Nantes is still there.

It is also one of the strongholds of the championship.

We have to go back to October of last year to see the H fall at home in this competition.

For several seasons, however, the advantage has been on the side of PSG, with four wins and two draws.

The last time Nantes won was during the 2016-2017 season, and this on two occasions (37-31 at home, then 38-37).

Each time, a certain Olivier Nyokas, former Parisian player (2006-2008) and Nantes since 2016, had distinguished himself ...

The Final 4 in sight.

We must not be mistaken about the objective: if PSG will defend its national crown dearly, it is the Champions League that the capital club will be aiming for at the end of the year, and more particularly the Final 4 of the previous edition which will first be played by a semi-final on December 28 against Barcelona.

It is also interesting to note that by then, Raul Gonzalez's men will only play their current week of the championship, which will give them nine days to prepare for the shock against the Spaniards.
