The German ski jumpers won the silver medal in the team competition at the Ski Flying World Championships in Slovenia.
Individual world champions Karl Geiger, Markus Eisenbichler, Pius Paschke and Constantin Schmid only had to admit defeat to the strong Norwegians around the overall World Cup leader Halvor Egner Granerud on Sunday.
Third place went to Poland.
Germany was still in the lead halfway through the competition.
In the second round, however, the Norwegians showed a more cohesive team performance and narrowly won.
Before the last two jumpers, Norway's coach Alexander Stöckl had the run-up shortened, Granerud still flew 234.5 meters.
National coach Stefan Horngacher tacted with, first went up and down again with the run-up.
"That was a bit annoying," said Geiger.
He only came to 224.5 meters and missed the bonus points.
In their third title win in a row, Norway was 16 meters ahead of Germany.
»Cool competition, exciting until the end.
We can really look forward to silver, ”said Geiger after the decision.
Team mate Eisenbichler sounded a bit more negative.
"I'm a little disappointed at the moment, I would have liked to have become the team ski flying world champion," said the 29-year-old.
After Geiger's title coup and Eisenbichler's bronze flight the day before, gold would have been a premiere on Sunday: Germany has never won the team competition at the Ski Flying World Cup.
This has been held since 2004.
