Now that it's official and final, Willy Rotensteiner will continue in his role as coach of the Israeli national team.
The management of the Football Association today (Thursday) approved the recommendation of the search committee, which was first published in "Israel Today" and the Austrian will also be credible in the next two years.
Two board members voted against the appointment, all the others in favor.
The contract will be until the end of the 2021/22 season and will include qualifying grants for the World Cup playoffs and qualifying for the World Cup (300,000 euros in total).
There are also bonus clauses on different stages of the World Cup, if and when the team qualifies for them.
Rotensteiner will also continue to work in the training division and will assist as needed for the new technical director when it is appointed.
"It's very exciting for me, it's a great honor and a great responsibility," said Rotensteiner, adding: "When the players say they feel good and want me to stay it's a compliment. I was pleased with our performances, even though we failed to qualify for the Euros. "But the process. The team has made progress and that is the most important thing for us, to progress as much as possible in the FIFA rankings and play better."
Meanwhile, at today's board meeting, the continuation of Rotensteiner's assistants in the team was also approved.
