Egyptian player Mayar Sharif qualified to participate in the Australian Open tennis championship after defeating her Serbian rival, Alexandra Kronich, in the final round of the Australian Open qualifiers in Dubai.
The 24-year-old beat Kronich in two clean sets of 1/6 and 2/6 in the final round of the Australian Championship qualifiers to reserve a place for her in the first Grand Slam tournament of the 2021 season.
Mayar had knocked out Japanese Akiko Umei 6/0 and 6/1 in the first round and American Grace Min 3/6, 2/6 and 6/1 in the second round of the qualifiers to qualify for the main role of the Australian Open tennis tournament, the first Grand Slam tournament for the first time in its history.
