Athletic Bilbao is the holder of the Spanish Super Cup for the 2020/21 season.
The team from the Basque Country defeated Barcelona 2: 3 tonight (Sunday) after extra time in the final of the mini-tournament held in Sevilla and scooped the first title for this season.
As you may recall, in the semi-finals Bilbao ousted the one who held the trophy until tonight, Real Madrid.
This is the Basques' third title win, having already lifted the trophy in 1984 and 2015.
After 40 minutes without goals, Griezmann gave the Catalans the lead, but after only 2 minutes the Basques responded with a goal by Oscar de Marcos that equalized in the half.
In the 57th minute Bilbao thought they had made a comeback, but after a VAR check Raul Garcia's goal was disqualified due to a difference.
Griezmann completed a double in the 77th minute and thought he was closing a story, but in the 90th minute Asier Willivre sent the game into extra time.
In the 94th minute came the moment of Inaki Williams who completed a makeover with a great goal.
Leo Messi will not want to remember this evening.
Aside from losing the title, towards the end of extra time the Argentine star hit an opposing player in an ugly way, and after a VAR check he received a red card from the referee and was sent off.
