Spanish media reports indicated that Barcelona had asked a group of major banks to delay payment of its debts in order to avoid declaring bankruptcy.

According to the Spanish economic newspaper El Confidencial, Barcelona asked Goldman Sachs, Allianz, Barings, Amundi and Prudential to postpone the debts owed by him, noting that the club has imminent debts amounting to 300 million euros, which he requested to delay payment.

The club's debts doubled during the 2019-2020 season amid very worrying financial results, increasing from 217 million euros in June 2019 to 488 million euros in June 2020.
