Chelsea - Lawton 1: 3
Knowing that a stumble against the sub-league team could cost him his job, Frank Lampard saw his young players deliver the goods, and in particular Tammy Abraham.
The young striker's show began in the 11th minute, with a flat kick to the corner.
In the 17th minute he slammed in his second and in the 74th minute completed a third goal of his career, this time after a brilliant team move.
In between, Jordan Clark (30) shrank, after a big coffee error, who later made up for it with a big save that prevented an equalizer.
In the 85th minute, Timo Werner could have joined the celebration, but missed from the penalty spot.
Either way, the Blues skip to the next stage and apart from the result, can also be pleased with the ability of Hakam Zeish the comeback, who played the first 77 minutes and was excellent.
Abraham, for his part, has become the first Chelsea player to score a hat-trick in the Cup since Oscar did so in January 2016.
