Author of a goal and two assists, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder, on loan from Lens this winter, was decisive on Saturday against Amie

“Before the game, he came to me and asked me, coach, can I dribble, can I do what I want?

I answered him of course, go small… He brought us his enthusiasm and his desire, he was clean.

»All smiles, René Girard appreciated the performance of Charles Boli on Saturday against Amiens (4-2).

With Gaëtan Laura, involved on 4 goals, the 22-year-old right attacking midfielder, on loan from Lens, was the trigger for his team's offensive awakening with one goal and two assists.

Roger's son and nephew of Basile, speaks for the first time since his arrival at Paris FC in early January.

With two assists and a goal, you were quick to make an impression.

Was it important to you?

CHARLES BOLI.

We necessarily expect a newcomer to bring something.

But for me, it was not easy because I had not had a match in the legs for several months.

I know I have to work twice as hard.

With the sequence of matches and training, I will gain strength.

Against Amiens, it was my 4th match with Paris FC and my 2nd start.

I am happy with my performance.

For confidence, it is important to be decisive for the team.

You signed on Sunday January 3 and two days later you were already on the plane for Toulouse with your new teammates ...

I was quickly put in the bath.

I didn't have time to think too much, everything happened very quickly.

But I was really well integrated.

I already knew Gaëtan Laura but the whole team welcomed me as if I were already part of the family.

Guys are really cool, I feel good, like I've been there for a long time.

That's wonderful.

I want to give back all the trust I have been given by helping the team and this club.

Tonight (Saturday), we had a really big game, even if we took these two goals.

It will be good for everyone to regain victory.

Last March you almost scored your first goal in L2 with Lens against Paris FC at Charléty.

(Smile).

Yes, I scored from a free kick at the last minute, but the referee refused.

This first goal of my professional career, I had been waiting for it for a while… So much the better that it happens with Paris FC.

How did you experience this first part of the season in Lens?

I was injured in a preparation match in August.

Afterwards, we had to come back, it was not easy.

But injuries have always been part of my journey.

It's fate ... I've always hung on.

In Lens, I didn't have any playing time in L1.

To regain confidence, being on loan was the best solution.

I am at Paris FC to give the best of myself.

I remain focused on these six months.

The rest with Lens (Editor's note: he is under contract until June 2023), we will see later, I do not think about it yet.

We have seen against Amiens that the agreement with Gaëtan Laura was already working well.

Can you confirm it to us?

Gaëtan is an incredible player.

He has extraordinary speed qualities.

What he does on his goal is really strong… We already had a good connection to Lens in reserve (National 2) during the 2018-2019 season when we played together.

On my goal, I threw him deep, I didn't have to call him, he saw me and gave me the ball back where it was needed.

It's perfect if we continue our Lensoise connection to Paris FC.

I also talk a lot with coach René Girard, he gives me a lot of freedom and confidence on the pitch.

This is what I need.

In our columns, your family said that “you were the most talented of the Boli”.

Must that put a little pressure on you?

(Laughs)… I read what they said.

It's okay, it shows that we are not angry, I'm happy… It is inevitably nice to see or hear you beautiful things about you, it's rewarding.

We are all very close in my family.

We talk to each other a lot and I know what they think of me.

But believe me, when they have to pull my suspenders up, they don't mind.

I have to be up to it.

My father will soon be coming to Paris, I'm happy because it's been a long time since I saw him (Editor's note: he is the sports director of the Ivorian club Africa Sports in Abidjan) and he is very important to me.
