The Deloitte Sports Business Group published its annual "Money League".
There are four German clubs in the top 20.
There were great concerns in the football world that the
corona pandemic
could completely collapse the system.
According to the
Deloitte Sports Group
,
the 20 clubs with the highest turnover
generated
8.2 billion euros
in the 2019/20 season
.
In the previous year, the so-called
“Money League”
had earned 9.3 billion euros.
Transfer expenses and revenues are not included in the prestigious ranking.
And so the
cumulative drop in sales
of
over one billion euros is
primarily due to the almost complete
lack of matchday
revenues
(-257 million euros) and the
low income from media rights
(-937 million euros).

As befits a banking metropolis, Frankfurt is now sending its largest football club between the clubs with the highest turnover in the world.
The losses compared to the previous year are limited at the SGE.
Hello, "Money League".

The 2019/20 season was
a bit strange
for
Olympique Lyon
.
In the
Champions League
, the French caused a big surprise with their semi-finals.
It went just as far in the
Coupe de France
cup competition
.
In the League Cup
Coupe de la Ligue
, Lyon even made it to the final.
In the league, however, it was only enough for
seventh place
.
The Olympique women meanwhile bagged their
fifth Champions League title in a row
.

The French made over 40 million euros less than in the previous year in the 2019/2020 season.
The
failed royal class qualification
will probably make itself felt again next year.
Nevertheless, it only went down one place in the ranking.

The
first English club in the ranking
has surprisingly put away the broken TV contract with China and even made up two places.
The
FC Everton
landed in 17th place and may look up.

Despite the difficulties in the
corona pandemic
and the lack of payments from China, the
Toffees were
even able to
increase
their sales by
1.5 million euros
compared to the 2018/19 season
.
This makes them one of only three clubs in the ranking that actually posted a turnover plus.

For
Schalke 04
, 2020 was just rock solid.
The clammy Revierklub was
facing the financial abyss
during the
Corona crisis
.
The impending bankruptcy in view followed one disaster after another.
Also sporty.
After all, at the beginning of 2021 the miners were able to
prevent
Tasmania Berlin's historic winless series
(31 Bundesliga games in a row without a win)
from being outbid
at the last second.

Fans and those responsible fear the worst-case scenario.

Zenit was able to increase its sales
by over
56 million euros
compared to the previous year.
How did the club do it?
If you take a closer look, the financial soaring is not a huge surprise.
In 2019/20 St. Petersburg took part in the
Champions League
for
the first time in four years
.
In addition, the Russians found different conditions than other European clubs in the corona pandemic.

... because financially it looks
anything but rosy
for

in Corona times.
The club, which belongs to the Chinese retail giant Suning Commerce, has suffered a drop in sales of over

Atletico Madrid's
sporting success
is closely linked to the name
Diego Simeone
.
The Argentine has been coaching the Spanish top club since 2011 and has had a long list of successes during this period: Spanish champions and cup winners, two-time Europa League winners, and Atletico twice in the Champions League final.
Not bad, Señor
Simeone

a
minus
of almost
36 million euros

Atletico has been playing its home games in their new gem, the
Wanda Metropolitano,
since 2017
.
Since then, it has been possible to increase earnings on a matchday by
50 percent

Precondition of course: fans are allowed.

Borussia Dortmund
only narrowly failed to make it into the top ten.
Like last year,
BVB took
a respectable 12th place in the
“Money League”
.
The anger about missing the top ten should be
limited
in
Dortmund
.
Despite Corona, the club has a
decline in sales
of only
six million euros
.
Quite a lot of money, but almost peanuts compared to other European heavyweights.

As a European spectator, ghost games hit
BVB
particularly hard.

three million euros

All the more impressive are the black and yellow sales results.

it does not run straight round - neither sporty nor financially.

Worse still:
Arsenal FC are losing
revenue.
They claim
eleventh place
in the
“money table”
, but a
decline in sales
of
57 million euros
is not so easy to put up with.
Hard times for all fans of the
Gunners

first team to make it

Tenth place, just like last year.
But the Italian record champions also have to
accept
a heavy
drop

sales

That's a lot of wood even for the association supported by the car manufacturer Fiat.

At least it was sporty last season.
Although the
Champions League ended
once more in the round of 16, at least in the league the
ninth championship title

Yes, you read that right: the
ninth title
in a row.
There should be another complaint about the Bundesliga.

Money does
n't really matter
at
Chelsea
.
Before the current season, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner were signed for over
130 million euros
.
A lot of money when you consider that at the end of the 2019/2020 season the club had almost
43 million euros
less in its pocket
compared to
the previous season.
A turnover of 469.7 million euros
is still enough for eighth place in the

Paris Saint-Germain

Money does

The Sheikh of Abu Dhabi Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been the main owner of the

By all means, success should come to the English working-class city.

Champion and cup titles were won in bulk, the really big hit - namely the
Champions League title

It
would be too easy to find the
blame for the
steep drop in sales
only in the corona crisis.
In recent years,
FC Barcelona has
done poorly - expensive player transfers and high game salaries are mentioned here.
As reported by Spanish media, the association is said to have liabilities of
1.17 billion euros
!
It is already speculated that the great
FC Barcelona
might even have to
sell
superstar
Lionel Messi
dearly.
