Kashtan, a gifted player who became a coach with tremendous achievements, nurtured and raised generations of players and coaches and his contribution to Israeli football spans decades and will accompany us for many years to come. We had the privilege of enjoying his knowledge, wisdom and integrity as a member of the professional committee of the Israel Football Association and his immense love for the State of Israel and our football always stood out. May his memory be blessed."
Hapoel Tel Aviv, where Kashtan coached for many years, wrote: "Hapoel Tel Aviv Football Club bows its head and mourns the untimely passing of legendary coach Dror Kashtan, who passed away at the age of 79. Dror Kashtan, the greatest football coach in Israel, coached Hapoel in four different terms in which he won four titles with the club (one championship, two state cups and the Toto Cup). Dror led the team to a record position in the UEFA Cup - reaching the quarter-finals in an unforgettable campaign in the early 2000s."
