News from Alexis Pinturault. After his crash during the Super-G and his serious injury to his left knee, the 32-year-old Frenchman will undergo surgery at the beginning of next week at the Jean-Mermoz private hospital in Lyon.
The winner of the big crystal globe in 2021 suffered a "rupture of the cruciate ligaments and an injury to the medial meniscus of the left knee", the French Ski Federation (FFS) said in a statement. The choice of the operation was made after his appointment on Monday with Dr. Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet.
"I'll be back"
The French skier had already wanted to reassure his fans on Saturday, the day after his crash. Alexis Pinturault had published on his Instagram account a photo of himself, accompanied by his baby, Olympe, a little girl born a week ago. "The best painkiller," he wrote, referring to his daughter, before thanking his audience for the messages of support and saying, Terminator-style, that he would be back ("I'll be back").

As a reminder, the 32-year-old Frenchman had made a shift towards speed disciplines this season for the end of his career, giving up the slalom to devote himself to the downhill and super-G. The best active record on the men's circuit with 34 World Cup victories, he achieved his first Top 10 in the downhill on Thursday, taking a fine 9th place on his discovery of the Lauberhorn in Wengen.
