Israeli President Isaac Herzog met today (Monday) at the President's House with legendary boxer Kevin Van Erich, who arrived in Israel for a visit of solidarity and support.
The president told Van Erich at the start of the meeting: "I watched you on TV as a child. We know that you are a true friend of Israel, and we are very happy that you are here."
Van Erich told the president about his visit to Israel: "In America, the children don't know who I am – the parents do, because that was 40 years ago, even more. But in Israel, the families are very close. The fathers tell the children that they used to watch me, and the children immediately listen and watch - because of the proximity of the families. It's so moving for me that the Chosen People treat me warmly and movingly."

Yesterday, Van Erich met for a conversation with the athletes of the Eilat Association. The meeting was attended by the coach of the Israeli national team in sambo, Matan Aravor, and athletes Tariel Abbasov, Matan Iglitsky, and Itai Igra.

Also participating were Adi Kfir, Uri Shmuel and Lihu Harari from MMA. The athletes shared their achievements with Van Erich, who congratulated them on their success in their future endeavors and shared his personal story.
