The Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Linoy Ashram arrived yesterday (Thursday) for a tour of Kibbutz Bari and tried to convey to the hundreds of thousands of people who follow her from around the world the feelings, images, and difficult scenes that remained in the Kibbutz since the massacre on October 7.
In a post she uploaded to Instagram with photos from the area, Ashram wrote: "On October 7, Hamas invaded Israel. They slaughtered, tortured, burned, raped, displaced and kidnapped innocent people. Today, after over 100 days, I visited Kibbutz Bari. The smells and scenes were strongly felt. I never thought something like this could happen to us again. Remember, the West is next."
Indeed, the post went viral and thousands of people expressed their support.
"We are proud of you Linui, the world needs to know," wrote one of the followers in response, and another added: "We cry with you! Praying for the kidnapped and the soldiers."
But all these reactions were dwarfed by another surprising reaction which read: "I am from Iran and stand behind Israel".
On the other hand, Ashram also received quite a few less pleasant responses, besides dozens of responses with Palestinian flags, there were those who chose to personally attack the gymnast: "I followed you because I thought you were an amazing gymnast. It's sad to see that it doesn't concern your morals," wrote one, and another wrote: I hope that Israel, being the strong country, can remember that there are innocents on the other side, who use their power against terrorists and without human life, and find the compassion they ask for themselves."
