The CAN of Adel Amrouche, the Algerian coach of Tanzania, lasted less than a week.
He was in fact sacked by his Federation this Friday two days before the second match against Zambia on Sunday.
On Wednesday, after the defeat (3-0) against Morocco, Adel Amrouche made controversial remarks: “The Moroccan Federation is a proven power in the world of African football.
Currently, Morocco manages African football.
They also choose their referees and we remain simple spectators.”
The president of the Tanzanian Federation Wallace Karia quickly dissociated himself from his coach: “We do not support the statement of our head coach Adel Amrouche.
We respect Morocco for its hard work in the development of football and will know what to do in the face of the coach's reckless and provocative statement.”
Summoned before the CAF (Confederation of African Football) disciplinary committee, Adel Amrouche was suspended for 8 matches and fined $10,000.
“CAF suspended national team coach Adel Amrouche for eight matches.
The sanction was pronounced yesterday by the CAF Disciplinary Commission, a complaint filed by the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) against coach Amrouche.
The FRMF complained to the coach for his statements according to which Morocco influences him within the CAF to organize matches with referees.
In another move, the Executive Committee of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has suspended coach Adel Amrouche.
Following this decision, Hemed Morocco was appointed interim coach and he will be assisted by Juma Mgunda,” the Tanzanian Federation wrote in the press release.
