There are sports legends not only on the field, not only on the running tracks, not only in the boxing rings and in general, there are sports legends also on paper, in the written press, and one of them is the mythical newspaper "Sports Illustrated", which was first published in 1954 and became a media icon.

But now, after in one common email message, 250 of its employees received a layoff notice, it seems that the mythical newspaper has reached the end of its journey exactly 70 years after its establishment.
Behind the decision is the company "Authentic Brand Group", which bought the rights to the newspaper 5 years ago and chose to end the relationship with the distributor "Arena Group" because of a high financial debt.
2.8 million dollars, the amount of the licensing contract, was not transferred by the latter to "Authentic Brand Group", which announced that it would keep a limited number of employees in its offices, but probably only for the orderly closure of the popular newspaper.
"All the workers have been fired, the future is unclear," tweeted one of the fired.
"Sports Illustrated" was known as the one that annually chose the "Athlete of the Year", a title that was considered particularly prestigious, and for 60 years it also published the swimsuit issue that sold many copies, and even three Israeli models starred on its cover: Bar Refaeli, Esti Ginzburg and Michaela Barko.
