The men's handball European Championship starts in Germany on January 10th.
National coach Alfred Gislason has announced the official DHB squad.
Dortmund – The men’s European handball championship will take place in Germany for the first time from January 10th.
On January 4th, national coach Alfred Gislason announced the official squad for the European Championships.
After the injuries to Marian Michalczik and Patrick Groetzki, there are only 17 players in total - the provisional squad still consisted of 35 players.
Former world champion Klein praises the German squad: “The distribution of roles is clear”
As captain of the DHB team, Johannes Golla will lead Germany through the tournament.
What is particularly striking after the official squad nomination is the mix of experience and young spirit.
Former world champion Dominik Klein also likes this: “The distribution of roles is clear.
On the one hand, there is the core of experienced players who must exude the necessary calm and confidence.
On the other hand, the national coach has euphoric, carefree U21 world champions on his hands,” he told the German Press Agency.

The German European Championship squad impresses above all with its experience and fresh air - Groetzki is out injured
Those U21 players like goalkeeper David Späth, pivot Justus Fischer or the backcourt talents Renars Uscins and Nils Lichtlein are supposed to bring a breath of fresh air into the German team.
The DHB team was able to celebrate its first success with the narrow victory in the test match against Portugal, although this was narrower than desired at 34:33.
At the dress rehearsal before the start of the European Championship, which was again against Portugal, the German team won 35:31.
After the victory, however, there was also some bad news to report for the German team.
Right winger Patrick Groetzki suffered a foot injury during the game and will not be available for the European Championships.
An examination revealed that his injury from the previous year had recurred.
The result: a break of several months.
Coach Gislason didn't want to get caught up in a possible re-nomination.
