The 16-year-old daughter of ski icon Martina Ertl wins bronze at the Youth Winter Olympics.
Gangwon – Like mother, like daughter!
Romy Ertl won a medal at the Youth Olympic Winter Games in Gangwon and is following in the footsteps of her mother, ski legend Martina Ertl, who won two silver and one bronze at the Olympic Games.
The 16-year-old took third place in the combination of Super-G and a slalom run, 0.86 seconds behind winner Maja Waroschitz from Austria.

“Next generation: Romy Ertl comes third in the Alpine combined at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in South Korea,” cheered Team Germany on Instagram.
Of course, comparisons with the famous and successful mother immediately came up.
“I'm proud of you,” Martina Ertl wrote in response to her daughter's bronze medal and added a red heart.
The 50-year-old also shared a video: in the upper section you can see her bronze run in the combination at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, in the lower section you can see the run of her daughter Romy, who previously had the “best experience of my life” in New Zealand “experienced.

Martina Ertl is one of the most successful German skiers in history.
The ski icon from SC Lenggries won silver in the giant slalom at the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer, silver in the combination in Nagano in 1998 and bronze in the combination in Salt Lake City in 2002.
The two-time world champion also celebrated 14 victories in the World Cup and won the small crystal ball in the giant slalom in 1996 and 1998.

By the way: Like her daughter, Ertl was successful at the Youth Olympic Games in 1991 at the Junior World Ski Championships in 1991, won silver in the giant slalom and how could it be otherwise – bronze in the combination.
Romy Ertl, who was already on the slopes at the age of one and a half, now wants to follow in her mother's footsteps, as she had previously announced.
“For me, my mother is my biggest role model and idol in every way and in every aspect of my life,” said the 16-year-old in an interview with

She is always there for me and also taught me how to ski.

The German ski talent followed her famous mother's advice in the summer, but that's not all. Ski superstar Mikaela Shiffrin also helps Martina Ertl's daughter.
“She told me that it’s really good to look up to the World Cup athletes, but I have to look up to everyone,” explained Romy Ertl.
"She said to me, 'Look not only at me, but also at Federica Brignone or Petra Vlhova, watch their techniques and learn something from everyone, picking up the parts that you can incorporate into your skiing.'"
Where Romy Ertl's path will lead is anyone's guess.
Maybe one day she'll be at the top, on the same level as her mother.
But one thing is already certain: “I love skiing because you are outside in nature.
And when I ski, I feel like I’m flying a little.”
