Summary: Hapoel Jerusalem - Hapoel Be'er Sheva 1:0/Sport1
Development in the case of the attack on the journalist Haim Levinson in the game of Hapoel Jerusalem.
As I recall, last weekend Levinson came to the game between his beloved team and Hapoel Beer Sheva at Teddy Stadium, and got into a violent confrontation.
Today (Wednesday), the Department of Police Investigations (PID) announced that the police officer who was recorded hitting fans and insulting Levinson, was investigated with a warning on suspicion of assaulting a citizen. At the end of the investigation, the police officer was removed from activity on the soccer fields for two weeks only, however, according to the PID announcement, the investigation continues.
Levinson's tweet in question
This is how Levinson described the turn of events.
"Arriving at Teddy's late, meeting the press. Seeing a policeman running rampant and beating his citizens," he wrote on the X social network and uploaded a video from the event, "Look at him bald in the middle giving punches. Filming him, jumping on me, choking me so I couldn't breathe. He took my glasses and slapped me them at the gate. Broke the glasses and lenses (I have a top hat) worth NIS 2,000. I came to watch football."
Hapoel Jerusalem also criticized the conduct of the police and said in response to the incident: "During the first half of the game at Teddy, police officers entered the Hapoel Jerusalem fans' stand. The allegation: a cigarette that had been lit. The response: disordered violence by the law enforcers. Fans who just want to enjoy football are beaten, too Soldiers who have returned from months in the war. God's riot continues. The Internet is flooded with documents. Israel Police, are you crazy?"
