Lucas Braathen is about to make a spectacular return to the ski circus.

Several active professionals believe that the Norwegian will make a comeback soon.

Kitzbühel – The sudden resignation of ski talent Lucas Pinheiro Braathen shortly before the start of the current season caused astonishment among fans and experts.

After a dispute with the Norwegian association over marketing rights, the 23-year-old announced the end of his career.

Felix Neureuther, among others, responded with an unusual offer.

Braathen then devoted himself to other projects while the World Cup continues without him.

Now speculation about a spectacular comeback is gaining new fuel.

In the new season he could be back in racing under the Brazilian flag.

At least Swiss skier Daniel Yule is certain of this, as he confirmed to

that Braathen is keeping fit.

“I know that Lucas has completed some training sessions with the Greek AJ Ginnis and the British Charlie Raposo in the last few weeks.

If I had ended my career, I certainly wouldn’t be training in the bars three months later,” said Yule.

Yule believes that training for fun is out of the question; he is more certain that Braathen will soon be back in the World Cup.

“I don’t think Braathen trains just for fun.

“I would bet a lot that he will race again next winter,” said Yule, who, like Braathen, specializes in slalom.

Will the Norwegian start for Brazil next winter?

The previously mentioned AJ Ginnis confirmed the joint training session shortly afterwards.

“Lucas trained with me in the Austrian Hinterreit Slalom in December before the night slalom in Madonna di Campiglio,” the Greek told

.

Braathen made “a very strong and motivated impression”.

He is therefore convinced that the Norwegian “will race again next season.”

However, since the fronts with the Norwegian association have probably hardened further, Braathen could start for Brazil, his mother's home country.

“I wouldn't be surprised if Braathen starts for Brazil next winter.

The Brazilian association certainly wouldn't mind if they brought J. Lindeberg clothing and Red Bull as a sponsor," said Austrian ski star Marco Odermatt shortly after Braathen's resignation in October.

Braathen is keeping a possible comeback open

The Norwegian himself has not yet commented directly on the speculation about a possible return, but he is by no means far away from the World Cup action.

During the races in Kitzbühel, Braathen was there live and then DJed in the well-known Beyond Kitz Club.

He also spoke meaningfully about his future in an interview with broadcaster Eurosport: “At the end of the day, I will do what fills me with the most joy.

If this is a different, creative profession, then so be it.

If it’s skiing, then so be it,” said Braathen.

He “just wanted to do what makes me happiest,” but also admitted: “I miss being on the slopes.”
