The former French international tries himself in an unexpected role: that of president of a football club. He chose Umraniyespor in Turkey

Never being where you expect him to be.

This seems to be the motto of Nicolas Anelka, the former Blues and PSG striker.

This time, it is the Turkish club Umraniyespor (D2) which announced this Thursday on the social network X the arrival at its head of Nicolas Anelka with this message in French:

“Welcome, Professor!

»

.

“Our club has reached an agreement with Nicolas Anelka for the position of President,” it is written in the message.

We welcome Nicolas Anelka and wish him success.”

After a long career which saw him wear the jerseys of PSG, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Fenerbahçe, Bolton, Chelsea, Shanghai, Juventus, West Bromwich and finally from Mumbai City in India, Anelka then sought his path after football.

In particular, he had done some freelance work in an assistant coach's tracksuit.

The last in Lille where he took care of the young attackers at the training center for a few months.

In February 2021, he was also, for only three months, sports director of the Hyères club, which played in National 2 and owned by Mourad Boudjellal, the former president of the Rugby Club Toulonnais.

Anelka also tried his hand at the microphone by speaking on RMC in the show of former player Jérôme Rothen.

He had also been an advisor to the Roda club in the Netherlands.

Welcome, Professor!

Anelka does not arrive in unknown territory in Türkiye.

He played there for a year and a half with Fenerbahçe, where he scored 16 goals in 57 matches between January 2015 and the summer of 2016.
