Climate activists protested in front of Chancellor Nehammer at the night race in Schladming.

The race was briefly interrupted.

Schladming – The night race of the Alpine Ski World Cup in Schladming offered plenty to talk about.

But it wasn't just the sporting events on the slopes that caused excitement.

The competition had to be interrupted temporarily because climate activists protested on the route.

During the first run, the protesters gained access to the finish line.

Color powder was then distributed there.

According to a statement from the climate protection group Last Generation, which was responsible for the interruption, the activists were then supposed to sit in the snow with a banner that read “Listen to the Climate Council.”

However, the protesters were prevented from doing so by security personnel.

The action can only be seen briefly in the television images.

The competition was briefly interrupted to carry out minor clean-up work and ensure the safety of the athletes.

Chancellor Nehammer also saw the “Last Generation” action in Schladming

The short protest at the night race in Schladming took place under the eyes of Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, who was there as a guest of honor in Styria.

In the “Last Generation” message, the group addressed the politician directly.

The Chancellor was able to “see the protest against his sloppy climate policy up close.” The group also demanded of the 52-year-old: “Finally listen to science, Mr. Nehammer!”

Due to previous protests, such as at the Four Hills Tournament in Bischofshofen, the ÖSV had increased the security staff at the finish line - in this case, probably with success from the association's point of view.

In purely sporting terms, however, Germany in particular had something to celebrate.

Linus Straßer won the night slalom.
