Franz Beckenbauer's eldest son Thomas spoke out after his father's death.
He thanks the emperor's third wife - and finds touching words.
Munich – These are sad days for everyone who was close to Franz Beckenbauer.
And especially, of course, for the football emperor's family.
Beckenbauer died on January 7, 2024 at the age of 78.
Franz Beckenbauer: Large memorial ceremony in honor of the emperor
The reactions to the sad news spoke volumes - the emotional highlight was the big memorial ceremony that FC Bayern Munich held on January 19th in honor of Beckenbauer.
The focus was also on Heidi Beckenbauer, Franz's third wife.
The funeral speakers – Bavarian President Herbert Hainer, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Prime Minister Dr.
Markus Söder and Bayern patron Uli Hoeneß – addressed their words directly to the widow several times.
And there were also touching words afterwards from Beckenbauer's eldest son, Thomas Beckenbauer.

Thomas Beckenbauer talks about his late father - emotional words to his widow Heidi
According to the advance report from Wednesday , the 60-year-old told
Bunten
: “Heidi took great care of him, and I am very grateful to her for that.” According to the report, he was with his father in Salzburg, Austria, on the day of his death.
The business economist and financial advisor said his father gave him a lot of humanity.
“Gratitude, reliability – with his warmth he treated everyone equally and never forgot where he came from.” He thinks that he “got a good portion of it.”
His children could have always and 100% relied on Franz Beckenbauer in every situation.

Beckenbauer was buried on January 12th in the immediate family circle.
His long-time companion Alfred Draxler recently said in the
Sport1
one-two that the grave “says more about Franz Beckenbauer than anything else.”
The emperor wanted to find his final resting place with his parents - and near his son Stephan, who died in 2015.
The death of his child was one of the sad strokes of fate that hit Beckenbauer hard in the last years of his life.
