Justice is looking into the 1.5 billion French football deal.

The National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF) is analyzing, according to information from L'Equipe, a complaint filed by the AC (Anti Corruption) association, on the commercial company of the Professional Football League (LFP) and the conditions of its creation.

This was launched after the agreement in April 2022 between the LFP and the investment fund CVC Capital Partners.

The latter paid 1.5 billion in exchange for 13.04% of the League's lifetime income.

The PNF is not the only one to look into this commercial company and the outline of this agreement.

The Senate will launch an information mission dedicated to the subject in the coming weeks.

This should, according to the president of the culture, education and sport committee Laurent Lafon, be endowed with the powers of a commission of inquiry.

She will have six months to conduct her hearings and produce a report.

A judicial hearing on the merits in February

Furthermore, the Le Havre club, unhappy with the distribution of funds to French clubs, decided to challenge this agreement in court.

Seized, the summary judge of the Paris court declared himself incompetent on January 16.

Another action, on the merits, was launched by the HAC and a first legal hearing is scheduled for the end of February.

The LFP held a general assembly in November to once again validate the outlines of this agreement.

This was born after the Covid-19 crisis, where French football found itself in financial difficulty to bail out the clubs.

The commercial company is headed by Benjamin Morel, former boss of the Six Nations Tournament.
