Alphonso Davies at Real Madrid, things seem to be going well.
Targeted for several months by the La Liga club, the 23-year-old defender has reportedly stated his desire to join the Merengue.
According to The Athletic, Real's chief scout Juni Calafat and general manager José Angel Sánchez have been in contact with Davies' entourage for some time and have asked him not to renew his contract with Bayern Munich, which will end in 2025.
Behind the arrival of Kylian Mbappé, the current leader of the Spanish championship has made the signing of Alphonso Davies one of its priorities for the next summer transfer window.
Several meetings would have taken place in recent weeks, including one in Madrid in mid-February, until a verbal agreement was reached between the Spanish club and the left back (18 matches and 1 goal this season in the Bundesliga).
He could sign as a free agent in 2025
Arriving in 2019 from Vancouver, the Canadian international (42 caps, 14 goals) seems determined to join the Madrid club, while Bayern have tried several times to extend him and other clubs like FC Barcelona seem interested.
The question now is when Alphonso Davies could join La Liga.
Real Madrid are ready to strike a deal at a lower price this summer, similar to the arrival of Toni Kroos from Bayern in 2014. If the two clubs fail to reach an agreement, the defender could sign as a free agent in 2025, like David Alaba in 2021.
