FC Bayern Munich is looking for reinforcements in midfield. An Everton player is said to have become the focus of Munich.
Munich/Liverpool – The next change is looming on Säbener Straße in the summer. At least coach Thomas Tuchel will leave FC Bayern. His successor is currently being hotly debated. But a squad problem from last summer remained even beyond Tuchel's term in office. Sports director Max Eberl and sports director Christoph Freund want to address this and are once again turning their attention to England.
The so-called “Holding Six”, i.e. the defensive part in the six position, was and is not sufficiently staffed from the perspective of the Bayern bosses. In the summer of 2023, they wanted to fix this problem by signing Fulham star Joao Palhinha. But the transfer fell through at the last minute because Fulham couldn't find a suitable replacement. Palhinha has now extended his contract, but is still on Bayern's radar according to reports from England.

FC Bayern interested in Everton six?
An Everton FC player is now also appearing on this radar: Amadou Onana. According to
a report in the
Telegraph
, Bayern are said to be very interested in the Belgian international and are “ready to step up their efforts to sign Onana”. This means: If it is on the market, you want to become active on Säbener Straße. That probably depends largely on whether his current club, Everton FC, manages to stay in the Premier League.

Onana moved from OSC Lille in France to Everton in the summer of 2022 for almost 35 million euros. Here he impressed despite weak team performances and is currently in the Belgian national team squad. Onana the problem solver for FC Bayern?
The 1.95 meter tall defensive midfielder could be the missing clearer in front of the defense for FC Bayern. In addition, Onana is only 22 years old and therefore still has development potential. According to the report, this is also reflected in the price tag: more than 70 million euros (60 million pounds) could be asked for the Senegalese-born six. Onana also has experience in Germany: from the Hoffenheim youth team she went to Hamburger SV before Onana moved to Lille in Ligue 1 in 2021.
