“An extraordinary season”: Eberfinger bowlers achieve their masterpiece

It was exciting, but in the end the bowlers from SKC Gut Holz Eberfing managed to triumph. Congratulations immediately came from the biggest title rival.

Eberfing

– Andreas Gattinger cannot say with certainty how many climbs it will be for him personally. He can be forgiven - anyone who has been involved in league games for more than 50 years cannot always have everything ready.

SKC Eberfing achieves promotion to the regional league

“It feels like number 15,” says Gattinger with a smile. But one thing is certain for the Eberfinger: “Every climb has its own special charm.” This time, emphasizes Gattinger, “it was the duel with Seeshaupt/Weilheim”. The decision was only made on the last matchday: With a 5:3 home win (3280:3205 Holz) over SG Alztal, the Eberfingers made their direct return to the national league perfect. The SG's 6-2 win at Schongau II didn't help either. Congratulations came from the gaming community from Seeshaupt and Weilheim: “Absolutely deserved” was the title.

Whoever wins 17 of 18 games this season will rightly be at the top of the table. “We also had the necessary luck in a few games,” says Gattinger.

In the home game against Fortuna Penzberg,

a total of five blades tipped

the balance in favor of Eberfinger. And even with the 5:3 victories in Burggen and Bad Endorf there wasn't much left to a possible surprising loss of points. That's how everything balances out: In the previous season, SKC Gut Holz had mostly played well, but - due to several unfortunate defeats - was unable to avoid relegation. On the other hand, the Eberfinger not only had a bad time in the current season, but also showed strong performances. The team achieved the best home result (3417 wood) and the best away result (3330 wood; 6:2 in Penzberg).

On top of that, the team had a special hurdle to overcome, because due to injury and illness, the SKC never played with the nominal best line-up.

Andreas Gattinger

therefore also sends “thanks to the replacements”. Without them, “we wouldn’t have made it otherwise.” Helmut Schütz made eleven appearances, U23 player Florian Aderbauer filled in five times and Adriano José Pohle appeared once. Youngster Andreas Zahler was available several times as a substitute in the event of a loss during the game.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.)

The Eberfingers were aware early on that they had quickly digested the relegation from the regional league and could play a good role in the district league. They played a preparatory game against Bayernliga promoted team SKC Unterthingau. Eberfing won 5:3, scoring a whopping 3413 wood. “That’s when you saw: it fit,” says Gattinger looking back.

With a convincing

8-0 win against promoted team TSV Peißenberg

(including 3412 wood), the SKC got off to an optimal start in the points round. From Gattinger's perspective, a crucial moment in this “extraordinary season” was Eberfinger's 6-2 home win in the top game against SG Seeshaupt/Weilheim. After that, the lead in the table was four points. Although the leaders lost the second leg on the penultimate matchday, the chances of giving up the title were slim given their clear lead.

5:3 win on the last matchday against Alztal

Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, the Eberfingers still needed three team points on the last matchday. They were in the bag against SG Alztal after the middle pairings. Gattinger (538 wood/4:0 sets) had Georg Schubeck (490) under control at the start. Eric Kühberger (531/1.5:2.5) scored more wood than Noah Eichinger (524), but since the Alztal player excelled in the last set (153:131), the team point went to him.

In the middle pairings, the Eberfinger made everything clear: Hubert Resch (551/3:1) defeated Martin Unterhaslberger (525), Matthias Lange shone with the day's best performance of 585 wood and 4-0 set points against Dennis Eichinger (530). Due to the lead in the total number of wood, nothing was left to burn, even if both team points in the final pairings went to the Alztal team. Alois Kriesmair (552/2:2) and Helmut Schütz (523/1:3) lost out to the strong players Sebastian Dunst (566) and Andreas Reichenspurner (570). Afterwards, the Eberfingers celebrated.

Statistics:

Eberfinger players and their playing values: Hubert Resch (18 appearances/14 team points/away average: 550.89 wood), Eric Kühberger (18/15/547.11), Alois Kriesmair (15/10/541), Markus Lindner ( 11/8.5/540.2), Matthias Lange (12/10/532.5), Helmut Schütz (11/6/513.75), Andreas Gattinger (15/8/513.75), Florian Aderbauer ( 5/3/513.67), Adriano Jose Pohle (1/0/510).
