In an interview with Liberation, the Minister of Justice also explains that it is not "acceptable" that 300 children of jihadists

"I see no other solution than to repatriate these people to France". In a few words, in an interview with Liberation, Nicole Belloubet announces a change of foot of the government on the question of the French jihadists detained by the Kurds in Syria. Until now, he did not want to hear about repatriation, believing that it was better to let the Iraqi justice judge them.

But since Iraq has refused the agreement proposed by Jean-Yves Le Drian to try these jihadists. “We are not going to have fifty solutions, explains Nicole Belloubet in the interview published this Saturday. Either we will repatriate them because we consider that it is better that they are under French control, or they will evaporate ... with the risks that this creates.

"Any terrorist fighter who is repatriated would be brought to court as we have always done," added the minister.

"Families were waiting for the government to find its reason"

Nicolas Belloubet also evokes the fate of the children of French jihadists. "It is not acceptable" that they are in these camps, she admits.

So far, the French government has only agreed to repatriate these children on a case-by-case basis. The Minister of Justice continues, however, to clarify that the situation there is such that it is complicated to "be able to pick up the children from the camps".

“Families have been waiting for a long time for this government to find reason, welcomes Parisian Me Marie Dosé, lawyer for many families of jihadists held in camps in Syria. We can effectively fight terrorism and Daesh without renouncing our fundamental values. The situation is now such in northeastern Syria that France has a humanitarian and security obligation to repatriate all of our nationals. "

" It was time. Repatriation is the only reasonable solution, it is obvious, continues Véronique Roy, member of the united families collective which brings together a hundred families. This position is late but it is welcome. It is courageous for the minister to speak this way. But now is the time to take action. "
