The mysterious notification that Samsung has sent to the Galaxy range phones

2020-02-20T14:53:56.543Z

During the morning of this Thursday, many users of the brand have received a message from the internal Find my mobile app with the number 1

A number, specifically a 1, with another 1 below. This is the content of the strange notification that Samsung users say they received on Thursday morning, from the Find My Mobile application, integrated into the Korean brand phones. The British division of customer service Samsung Help has been the first to ensure that everything was due to an accident through a communication on Twitter, where it has admitted that the notification "appeared on a limited number of Galaxy phones."

Recently, a notification about “Find My Mobile 1” occurred on a limited number of Galaxy devices. This was sent unintentionally during an internal test and there is no effect on your device. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers. ^ LF

Under normal conditions, notifications of this app should not be submitted spontaneously, but should respond to requests from users who are trying to locate their phones. What happened on this occasion? "It was accidentally sent during an internal test and has no effect on your devices," the Korean company explains on Twitter. Samsung Spain has also confirmed what happened in a statement almost identical to the previous one. In its networks, the Spanish division of the company has specified that the 'cryptic' notification was sent "by mistake while testing the servers" and added that it does not affect the terminals or their privacy. "If you have also given a like while you exploded , you will understand what happened," they joke in a later tweet.

Hours after users began sharing the strange experience on the networks, the Korean company thus dissipated the confusion, confirming that the messages were theirs (and not from an attempted hacking, as some feared) and that everything had been involuntary: the message was not intended to reach the general public. The interaction with the notification, moreover, seems not to give any concrete result.

However, the user alarm is justified, since through this application, the user can do much more than find his phone. In case of not being able to locate it through the geolocation service, there are different options to limit its operation and save the contents: from a simple block, to backups, deletion of the data stored in the device and disabling access to the service of Samsung Pay payment. In addition, this tool can also be used to unlock the phone if the pin or password has been forgotten.
