The circular economy represents one of the main challenges that society as a whole has to face in order to define a new model of development, sustainable and able to combat climate change.
The characteristics and opportunities of the circular economy are presented in this lesson by Marco Frey, professor of economics and business management and director of the research group on sustainability at the Management Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa as well as, among the positions he holds, president of the "Global Compact Italy" Foundation, United Nations body, and president of Cittadinanzattiva, a non-profit organization that promotes civic participation and the protection of citizens' rights.
The circular economy aims to conserve and preserve the value of resources over time, through "cyclical" systems of production and products, also thanks to the development of an ad hoc design, to encourage the regeneration of natural capital and the ecosystem. This innovative economic model has implications for the business and for companies, capable of imparting a development that guarantees benefits for the economic system as a whole.
