Coronavirus: "Some patients will know what is worse: dying alone"

INTERVIEW - For the clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst in a mobile palliative care team (EMSP) at the Kremlin-Bicêtre teaching hospital, Dr. Nizaar Lallmahamood, the patients "diagnosed Covid" are in a state of psychological and physical distress as in war.


THE FIGARO MAGAZINE. - What is the impact of the epidemic on hospital services?

NIZAAR LALLMAHAMOOD. - We are in an unprecedented health situation. A time when all the nursing staff must adapt from hour to hour according to emergency department arrivals and the development of knowledge. Since the onset of the epidemic, everything has changed. The tidal wave of people with severe forms of Covid-19 has upset all of the hospital services in our country. In the front line, the emergencies, the resuscitation service then the infectious diseases service and that of pneumology are mainly confronted with an increase in load comparable to what is required in "war medicine". The daily time before the Covid-19 no longer exists because we are in an emergency.
