A 23-year-old woman was charged with "aggravated manslaughter" and placed in pre-trial detention after having fatally mowed a young man on a scooter last Wednesday in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), reports La Provence on Tuesday .

That day, around 3 a.m., Antony Anaya, 21, was traveling on his 50 cc along avenue Jean-Paul Sartre (13th arrondissement of Marseille), when he was struck from behind by a Renault Clio.

Found 200 meters from his scooter

The shock had been so violent that the young man had been thrown nearly 200 meters from his scooter. The driver of the car did not even brake and fled with her passenger, leaving her victim dead on the asphalt.

But his trace was quickly found by the police: his license plate was discovered at the scene of the tragedy. Arrested early in the morning at her home in Martigues, with another 0.38 g of alcohol per liter of blood, the driver had been placed in police custody and had quickly confessed.

Her passenger, on the other hand, was left free, but was nevertheless charged for "failure to assist a person in danger".
