Redoine Faïd's escape plan: new indictment for criminal association

The Creole robber is suspected of an escape plan from Fresnes prison, a few months before his beautiful helicopter from the central

The hearing was brief. Excerpt Wednesday morning from Vendin-le-Vieil prison (Pas-de-Calais) where he has been detained since his arrest in Creil (Oise) on October 3, 2018, transferred to Paris under the watchful eye of the elite GIGN gendarmes , the multi-repeat robber took advantage of this meeting to "denounce his conditions of imprisonment, which have not changed since his hunger strike in February," said his lawyer, Me Yasmina Belmokhtar.

It was only the second hearing of the king of beauty with the judge Jean-Michel Gentil since his escape from Réau prison on July 1, 2018. At its end, the Creillois was again indicted for association of criminals, confirmed this Friday a judicial source.

During the investigation into the escape of Redoine Faïd from Réau prison, from which he escaped on July 1, 2018 with the help of an armed commando who released him by helicopter, justice believes he has revealed another escape project, which was unsuccessful. Investigators are thus convinced that relatives of the robber media set up, during 2017, a project to get him out of Fresnes prison. He was then incarcerated in the Val-de-Marne prison pending his trial on appeal for the failed robbery, in the same Ile-de-France department, which cost the life of municipal policewoman Aurélie Fouquet in 2010.

The complicity of a henchman from Jacques Mariani?

As the Observations revealed, a man indicted in the Réau escape explained to investigators that Rachid Faïd, Redoine's brother, had organized several meetings in a forest in the Oise in order to plan this evasion. According to the same man - involved from afar in the Réau escape - a Corsican was regularly present during these meetings. The same would have been on board the helicopter in which Redoine Faïd escaped on July 1, 2018.

For the judges examining the Faïd case, this is no accident. If it cannot be Jacques Mariani, imprisoned at that time, the magistrates see in it the hand of the presumed Corsican godfather, who could have provided a henchman. To reach this conclusion, the magistrates also rely on a "wobbly witness", according to a source familiar with the matter. A "repentant", long close to Mariani and pursued in several Corsican files, which ensures that the two clans sealed a pact: Mariani was responsible for making Faïd escape; in exchange, the robber helped the godfather to take revenge on his enemies on the Isle of Beauty.

On June 9, Mariani, son of one of the historic founders of the Corsican Sea Breeze gang, was thus indicted for association of criminals. He is suspected of having participated in the first escape project of Redoine Faïd. The police notably highlighted contacts between Jacques Mariani and Rachid Faïd, Redoine's big brother, who himself was indicted on Monday for these preparations. The Corsican thug would also have been, thanks to the help of an intermediary, in connection with Brahim, the eldest of the Faïd family, also indicted since last June 17.
