Cambrai: a gendarme injured during a road check

2020-07-07T02:45:36.438Z

This incident comes after the death of a 25-year-old gendarme on Saturday during a roadside check in Lot-et-Garonne.

A young gendarme was injured during an intervention on Sunday in the North. After a series of thefts during the day around Cambrai, the gendarmes had spotted a group of criminals and decided to set up a roadblock in the evening in the Gouzeaucourt sector.

Around 10 p.m., according to La Voix du Nord, the trap worked and the criminals found themselves facing the gendarmes. In an attempt to flee, they did not hesitate to hit two cars but also a "young deputy gendarme". According to Loïc Loupret, commander of the Cambrai company, the latter was injured in the foot.

Some of the thieves were arrested, however, but others were able to flee. The criminal identification was dispatched on the spot and a device was set up to search for the fugitives.

If a drama has been avoided, this incident comes after the death of a 26-year-old gendarme on Saturday during a roadside check in the Lot-et-Garonne in Port-Sainte-Marie. Mélanie Lemée, former French military judo champion, was hit by a 27-year-old driver, already known to the police and gendarmerie for drug-related offenses.
