A maintenance employee of a leisure park in Sorigny (Indre-et-Loire) died of his injuries after being hit by the little train of a merry-go-round, we learned on Monday from the prosecutor of the Republic of Tours, Grégoire Dulin.
“Around 11 am, he entered the carousel in operation to carry out a maintenance operation. While carrying out this operation, he was struck by a small train occupied by customers. In cardiopulmonary arrest, he was pronounced dead a few minutes later, "said the magistrate.
The carousel placed under seal
The prosecution opened "a flagrant investigation into the manslaughter". "The goal is to determine why the person seemed to be undertaking a maintenance operation right in the middle of the rails while the arena was in operation," said Grégoire Dulin.
The roller coaster attraction was placed under seal. An autopsy of the victim's 63-year-old body is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
The investigation was entrusted to the Orleans research section and to the Loches gendarmerie research brigade. The Family Park reopened Wednesday July 1.
