As the Covid-19 epidemic continues to progress worldwide, the Director General of Health, Jérôme Salomon, explains the strategy implemented by the French health authorities to contain the circulation of the virus for as long as possible.
LE FIGARO. - Since the beginning of the epidemic, the whole difficulty has been to spot Covid-19 cases early to isolate them before their symptoms. Do you succeed?
Jérôme SALOMON. - We are carrying out two strategies at the same time: one targeted, the other broader. Targeted screening consists in breaking the chains of contamination as soon as a person is sick. We insist very much on the need to consult quickly as soon as symptoms appear, even mild, and to have a test immediately for a report within 24 hours. With the patient's help, we trace the thread of all the people he may have contaminated, we test them and if they are carriers or sick, we isolate them and treat them. But that's not enough
