The first heat wave of the summer is expected on Friday, but it will be short-lived. As explained by La Chaîne Météo *, the rise of a mass of very hot air from the Maghreb will gradually push back the current high pressure system in the north of the country. Temperatures will frequently exceed 35 ° C over the southern half on Thursday, then on Friday throughout the east before limiting themselves to the south-east on Saturday. We will even exceed 40 ° C in Aquitaine Thursday, then Friday from Burgundy to the Rhône-Alpes region with very locally some possible records.

The shift in the west wind on Friday will then put an end to the heat in the west of the country, explains the Weather Channel. Gradually, this temperature improvement will reach the Hauts-De-France regions as far as the Pyrenees before moving very slowly towards the east.
Doubly vulnerable population
Covid-19 and heatwave, which can affect the same vulnerable groups (elderly, housed sick, diabetics, heart failure ...), can lead to " contradictory " orders : therefore the prevention of the two risks " must be adapted ", warns Public Health France. Agnès Verrier, in charge of health and environment expertise at SpF, gives examples of these “contradictory injunctions” which require adaptation: during a heat wave, in addition to the hydration advice, it is recommended to close windows and shutters on day and for the Covid to ventilate as much as possible; to strengthen the social bond and for the Covid, physical distancing. And to go a few hours in cool places (shops, libraries, cinemas ...). What is possible with the mask and respecting the preventive gestures, the barrier gestures, she explains.

"In a period of the COVID-19 epidemic, it is even more essential to limit the health impact of exposure to heat in particular to reduce the burden of using emergency hospital or medical services", underlines in all SpF case. Instructions have been sent to nursing homes and other medical-social establishments to limit the risks.
