Coronavirus: more than 1,300 new cases for the third day in a row

This Friday, 1,346 people tested positive for Covid-19 in France. Eleven hospital patients died from it.


According to daily figures from the Directorate General of Health, 11 people have died from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours. 5,298 patients are currently hospitalized, including 371 in intensive care, or 10 less than the day before. The regions " Ile de France, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Hauts-de-France and Guyana regroup 71% of patients in intensive care ", specifies the DGS in its press release of Friday, July 31.

258 “ clusters ” are still active in the region, 20 new ones have been detected since yesterday. Between July 22 and 28, 527,000 tests were carried out on the territory, with a positive rate of 1.5%. For the day of July 31 alone, 1,346 new cases were detected, this worrying figure is higher than 1,300 for the third consecutive day. Since the start of the epidemic, 187,919 people have been infected in France.

In order to reduce the risk of infections, in addition to public measures, the health authority recommends avoiding overly large friendly and family gatherings. " Focus on small groups, equip yourself with masks for the general public and hydro-alcoholic gels, prefer outdoor spaces, ventilate the premises, activate Stop Covid, protect the most vulnerable ", details the Directorate General of Health.

Globally, the mark of 17 million infected, since the appearance of the virus, was crossed yesterday, according to the DGS, for a total of at least 674,038 deaths.
