The growth shown by the 0 km car patents during June, which returned to positive numbers after 24 months of falls, seems to have been just an illusion.
New vehicle registrations over the past month have returned to the red and rocketing 40% below July 2019.
During July, patents amounted to 30,288 units , which also represent a drop of 18.8% when compared to the June numbers, when 37,297 had been registered.
In this way, the annual accumulated amount to 183,693 vehicles, according to what was reported by the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA).
At this time of the year, in 2019, 299,455 had already been patented.
To the general problems caused by the country's economic situation and the coronavirus pandemic, ACARA warns of other disadvantages that they see in the activity.
"July has been an extremely difficult month," said Ricardo Salomé, the entity's president. "The main cause is the lack of replacement of the units of the dealers' stocks, which we are working with very little predictability and in a market where the limited demand that it has cannot be satisfied through supply."
The brands that sold the most during July were Volkswagen (5,334 vehicles), Renault (4,160), Fiat (3,440), Toyota (3,103), Chevrolet (2,990), Ford (2,661), Peugeot (1,975), Nissan (1,067), Citroën (898) and Jeep (726) in the top 10.
The analysis by model highlights the good performance of the pickups, which not only have the best-selling model of the month, but 40% of the top ten correspond to truck models.
