With the academic year 2021-2022 the first doctorate in artificial intelligence will start in Italy. The agreement between the National Research Council (Cnr), the Sapienza University of Rome, the Polytechnic of Turin, the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, the Federico II University of Naples and the University of Pisa has been signed. The Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and the Cnr, where the MUR set up a committee to draw up a unitary strategy and achieve national coordination, finance the Cnr with 4 million euros and 3, € 85 million from the University of Pisa. 194 scholarships are already available, 97 co-financed by the CNR and 97 co-financed by the Mur through the University of Pisa.
The total investment, with the co-financing of the universities, will exceed 15 million euros.
"This is a great opportunity for our country. With the PhD in artificial intelligence, Italy will be more competitive on advanced technologies", said the owner of Mur, Gaetano Manfredi.
