Last week the serial production of the new Peugeot 208 began , the model that is manufactured in the plant that the PSA Group has in El Palomar and of which all its characteristics are now known.
It will offer a total of 7 versions , two options of gasoline engines and manual or automatic gearbox, in a price range that starts from $ 1,210,300 .

The new model, which will be available as a pre-sale from August 6, is built on the same platform that is manufactured in Europe, where it was chosen as Car of the Year 2020.
So far, only one engine has been confirmed for the new model of the French brand: the 115-horsepower 1.6-liter that can be combined with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed Tiptronic automatic.
But Peugeot announced that it will offer another engine for the entry-level versions. It is a 3-cylinder engine, 1.2 liters of displacement and a power of 82 horsepower .
This engine can only go, at least for now, with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
This model will incorporate in its top-of-the-range version (Feline) a set of driving assistance elements , such as autonomous emergency brake, lane maintenance system and fatigue alert, among others.
A minimum of safety elements are established for the entire range, including a double front airbag (required by law) and two front side airbags. The two most equipped alternatives will also add curtain airbags.
For all versions they will also have the electronic stability control, known as ESP or ESC for its acronym in English, plus hill start assistant.
The Peugeot 208 will also have an evolution of what it called the i-Cockpit, which had debuted with the previous 208, and which offers a smaller than normal steering wheel rim and a dashboard that reads above the steering wheel.
For this improvement, he developed a completely digital board that allows him to see its information with a three-dimensional effect. Lets you choose between 4 different views.

Other highlights of the new model of national manufacture are the panoramic roof, wireless charger for cell phones and automatic climate control, reserved for the higher versions.
From the company they confirmed that by January 2021 the range will be completed with the French GT Line version, equipped with the same 1.2 but turbocharged engine, which gives 130 horsepower, and a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox.
