A gasoline tank caught fire and exploded on Monday in Volgograd, southwest Russia, injuring 13 people, according to the TASS news agency. The explosion took place at a gas station in the Traktorozavodsky district of the city. The fire was finally brought under control on Monday afternoon.
One of the victims is in a state of absolute emergency, according to the press service of the city's regional administration.
Among the injured were four firefighters who suffered burns while extinguishing the ongoing blaze before the explosion occurred.

Two victims refused to be hospitalized, according to information from the RBC newspaper.
Sergei, a witness to the blaze who lives near the gas station, told RBC that the explosion of the tank caused windows and walls to vibrate. “I saw it all through the window. My car alarm went off and the explosion was felt through the windows, ”he said.

According to REN television, the explosion occurred during construction work taking place this summer. Workers were supposed to burn the gas left in the tank, but it caught fire and exploded.
