This 9-year-old Belgian Malinois shepherd allowed a total seizure of 247,280 euros of undeclared cash. Aki, the sniffer bitch from Frankfurt airport has such an effective muzzle that it allowed German customs, in just a few days, to get their hands on a quarter of a million euros in passenger business.

- Frankfurter Allgemeine (@faznet) August 12, 2020Between the end of June and the beginning of July, a dozen travelers considered to be suspects were sniffed by this Belgian shepherd, allowing a total seizure of 247,280 euros of undeclared cash that they were carrying with them, said Wednesday the office of customs of the first airport in Germany.
52,000 euros in a belly pouch
The money was in handbags, shoulder bags, and inside jacket pockets, among others. The dog, trained to sniff only cash, in particular detected nearly 52,000 euros in a belly pocket of a passenger. Travelers to third countries are normally required to declare cash of 10,000 euros or more held with them when entering or leaving the European Union.
Thus, a fine was imposed on this dozen passengers all preparing to leave the EU and who had not produced a formal declaration.
