The Toulouse district of Izards experienced its fourth shooting in three weeks on Monday evening. A teenager, aged 17 according to a police source, 19 according to firefighters, was shot dead during these exchanges of fire.
Several detonations were heard around 11 p.m. by the inhabitants of this zone plagued by drug trafficking for several years. Despite the support of the firefighters, the doctors at the hospital could not save the victim, known to the police for drug trafficking. He was pronounced dead during the night, around 1 a.m.
According to La Dépêche du Midi, the local police arrested two individuals suspected of having participated in this shooting. Firearms were found in a stolen car, which had been seen shortly after the incident. The regional judicial police service (SRPJ) in Toulouse was responsible for the investigation.
Two dead in July, two more in August
Acts of violence of this type are on the increase this summer. At the end of June, 16 people had been arrested as part of a major operation to combat drug trafficking in the Izards district. Since then, investigators from the judicial police and the departmental security narcotics brigade suspect that the territory is the scene of a war of influence to recover the "market".
In mid-July, a man in his twenties was shot dead in the middle of the night near the Toulouse Stadium. On August 10, a shooting also left one dead and two wounded, a few steps from the "Three Cuckolds" metro station. It is at this place of "deal" that also took place the fatal shooting of this Monday evening.
