The new car market continues to adapt to the few opportunities offered by a year as complex as this 2020 is. And in that sense, the
sale of 0 km models
was shown with total numbers almost identical to those of last month.
During
August
, the patenting of new vehicles reached
30,418 units
, a record almost identical to the 30,487 that were achieved in July.
Even the daily average of 978 vehicles was slightly higher than that registered in July (948), which reflected a higher total number due to having one more business day.
The Fiat Cronos, manufactured in Córdoba, was ranked as the second best-selling model last month.
In this way, in the
annual accumulated they reach 214,306 vehicles
, according to what was reported by the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA).
At this point in the year, in 2019 343,860 had already been patented.
For Ricardo Salomé, president of the entity that groups the official concessionaires, the parity between the last two months is explained by the situation shown by the current market in combination with the exchange market: "people should know that we are in the
last weeks of real opportunities
for the public. A combination of foreign exchange, economic and conjunctural issues have made it very convenient for us to make the decision to acquire a vehicle. "
For this reason, ACARA expects "measures to reactivate economic activity that may be announced, as the government itself has allowed to transcend, with some of the many proposals brought by the value chain of our sector, since we have structures for 750,000 patents annually and this year we will be reaching just 300,000, in the best of cases. "
In the analysis of sales by brand, Volkswagen was once again the company that patented the most vehicles, with 5,464 registrations.
Further back were Toyota (3,864), Chevrolet (3,375), Renault (3,225), Fiat (3,209), Ford (2,783), Peugeot (1,964), Nissan (1,164), Citroën (923) and Jeep (696), among the top 10.
Among the particularities to highlight from last month's records are the strong presence of pickups, with 40% in the
top ten
, and the great sales rate shown by the Fiat Cronos.
