Why account settlements are increasing in Toulouse

2020-09-07T17:15:31.096Z

A fifth person fell under the bullets in the pink city on Monday, where the war between traffickers is escalating.

The black series of shootings this summer in Toulouse caused another death on Monday morning in the northern districts of the city.

Since August 10, this is the fifth death against the background of drug trafficking, in a war between different networks eyeing large outlets.

This afternoon, the technicians of the scientific police of Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) were still active around the scene of the crime.

It was in the parking lot of a brand new residence in the Lalande district, north of the Pink City, that a couple was targeted by gunfire, around 7 a.m., while they were still in the car.

The black Mercedes, parked in the parking lot of this residence wedged between the railroad, an activity zone and the ring road, bears the scars of the attack, the windows having shattered under the bullets.

An 18-year-old young man died in the shooting and a young woman, a minor, was seriously injured in the shoulder and taken to hospital.

"The victims are getting younger and younger"

Several cartridge cases were found on site.

The victim, who was allegedly hit in the back of the neck, is said to be known to the police for drug trafficking.

The gunner (s) who were in a white van are currently being sought.

A vehicle was found set on fire, not far from the scene, without at this stage we can still establish the link with the car of the murderers.

This new death by firearm extends the sad black series of the shootings which mourned Toulouse this summer.

"The victims are younger and younger, against a backdrop of turf war," reports a judicial source.

Three young traffickers were notably killed in the Izards district, located about two kilometers from the crime this morning.

The emergence of new bosses

Last June, 16 people involved in a vast drug trafficking in this city were arrested.

"This large point of sale, which can bring in up to 20,000 euros per day, is of interest to other large networks from Marseille or Lyon, because Toulouse remains a large student city with many consumers", explains Christophe Amans, deputy delegate of the SGP union in Haute-Garonne.

The confinement has also weakened the traffic since the supply was impossible and some dealers want to make up for the shortfall.

"Former heads of networks have been arrested, and nature abhors a vacuum, it stirs up the greed of less structured, less experienced groups who are trying to seize certain points of the deal" assures David Leyraud, deputy secretary of the Alliance union in Haute-Garonne.

The summer would be more conducive to settling scores between traffickers.

"The students are deserting the city, so there are fewer buyers and witnesses", analyzes Christophe Miette, police-judicial officer with the union of internal security executives (SCSI).

To cope with this explosion of violence, the police unions have been calling for several years for police reinforcements estimated at nearly 150 agents.

But also more resources in computer science, radio, headsets or tactical vests.

The police unions and the mayor, Jean-Luc Moudenc, also demand the arrival of the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, in the Pink City.
