The body of a half-burnt man with traces of violence was found overnight from Thursday to Friday in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine).
"Following the intervention of the firefighters called for an apartment fire around 1:20 am, the body of a deceased man was discovered," Rennes public prosecutor Philippe Astruc told AFP. .
The apartment is located rue du Maréchal-Lyautey, near the Rennes University Hospital, in the west of the city.
Seals were placed on the door.
"Suspicious elements having been noted, an investigation was entrusted to the Interregional Directorate of the judicial police of Rennes in order to establish the precise circumstances of the death of this person", added the prosecutor, thus suggesting that the criminal track was privileged.
According to a police source, the body presented lacerations, and could be that of the tenant of the apartment.
