An internal investigation at Porsche reveals that non-standard means were used to change emission data

At the end of August, an internal investigation committee of Porsche began to investigate allegations of manipulation in the petrol engines of its many models.

Porsche at the same time informed the Stuttgart prosecutor's office that this move also includes the US authorities that a suspected use of illegal hardware and software has been investigated which may affect the emission data measured at the exhaust end.

At the center of the investigation are gasoline engines developed between 2008 and 2013 that also reached the Panamera and 911 models.

Well yesterday in Germany the committee published its findings and these do confirm the suspicions.

According to the publication Porsche used special transmission ratios in the gearboxes of the development and examination vehicles.

Transmission ratios are different from those intended for gearboxes in serial production.

This could have led to a reduction in fuel consumption (according to the standard's fuel consumption profile) during the pollution tests, when in "real life" fuel consumption was completely different.

A Porsche spokesman said that "these are several individual cases, it was a long time ago and that there is no evidence that the current models were affected by the above."

In any case, the investigation continues and the information discovered so far has been passed on to the authorities.

The revelations refute Porsche's claim that it is only a "victim" of VW in the Dieselgate affair.
