Did Abdoullakh Anzorov have the idea alone to go and behead Samuel Paty?

Or did he benefit from intellectual or even material complicity?

Three days after the appalling assassination of a history professor in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines), investigators are trying to understand what prompted this young Chechen from Evreux (Eure) to come and sow terror in a college from the Parisian suburbs with which he seems to have no connection.

Eleven people were still heard under police custody on Sunday evening: ten at the anti-terrorism sub-directorate (Sdat) and one at the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI).

Arrested a few hours after the attack at the family home in Evreux, the parents of Abdoullakh Anzorov, his little brother and his grandfather were questioned at length by investigators on the radicalization of the 18-year-old terrorist and his relationship to Islam. .

The latter was neither listed S nor known to the intelligence services.

All claim to have known nothing of the fatal project of the executioner of Samuel Paty, who had taken his independence for some time.

"He must have been trapped on the Internet and fallen into religious extremism"

"The family saw nothing coming", confides to the Parisian the paternal uncle of Abdoullakh Anzorov, affirming that his brother "had lost control" in the education of his son.

In recent days, however, the parents had noticed a slight change in behavior and noticed that their son frequently mentioned the videos referring to Samuel Paty and his course on freedom of expression.

“I am so sorry for the family of the victim and for France, breathes, in rudimentary French, this uncle living in Toulouse.

Abdoullakh cannot cut off a head like that.

I do not understand, he must have been trapped on the Internet and fall into religious extremism.

“Arrived in France 12 years ago, the Anzorov family enjoyed refugee status.

In their decision, the authorities underlined the "ill-treatment" suffered by the father of the future terrorist in Chechnya "to force him to collaborate with the authorities" and the risk of persecution in his country for the support "of the Chechen resistance".

This heavy family heritage weighed on the intellectual construction of Abdoullakh Anzorov.

On his Twitter account under the pseudonym "Tchétchène_270", the first discreet signs of radicalization appeared this summer.

Between messages defending free Chechnya, the future killer had published calls for violence?

At the end of July, this had earned him a report by an Internet user to the Pharos police platform, which had transmitted it to the Counter-Terrorism Coordination Unit (Uclat).

Abdoullakh Anzorov was also pinned for the publication of a first beheading photo at the end of August.

However, these disturbing messages did not trigger an alert from the intelligence services.

The killer's phone under investigation

Two months later, however, the radicalization of the Chechen crystallized around the controversy over the course evoking freedom of expression given by Samuel Paty on October 5 in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.

For showing caricatures of the prophet Muhammad to his students, the teacher was the victim of a smear campaign maintained on social networks, instrumentalized by Brahim C., a parent of a student, and Abdelhakim Sefrioui, an activist of the radical Islam stuck S. Without, however, the latter not calling to physically attack the history teacher.

Investigators are trying to find out whether Abdoullakh Anzorov was influenced by this controversy indirectly, by viewing the videos shot by the two men, or directly, by having spoken with them.

The killer's phone is being appraised in order to analyze its messages and Internet history - likes or comments on social networks - the hours and days preceding the attack.

According to our information, in police custody, Brahim C. and Abdelhakim Sefrioui assured that they did not know the assailant and had no contact with him.

They also told investigators "to deplore the death of Samuel Paty", while insisting that the victim should not have shown the cartoons and "stigmatized the children of Muslims".

In addition, Brahim C. maintains that his daughter took part in the course on freedom of expression given by the teacher killed, which the investigation does not confirm.

Beyond possible intellectual complicity, the investigation seeks to determine whether Abdoullakh Anzorov received material assistance in the realization of his macabre project.

During the night from Friday to Saturday, two men spontaneously presented themselves to the Evreux police station.

The terrorist's first friend, from the Madeleine district like him, brought Abdoullakh Anzorov near the scene of the attack with his car from Normandy on the morning of the tragedy.

The second would have accompanied him during the purchase of a dagger found on Friday on the body of the terrorist.

Did these friends know the purpose of this journey and this purchase?

Sunday, an eleventh suspect was arrested in Evreux by the DGSI, which wishes to "determine his degree of involvement in the assassination" of Samuel Paty.
