It hurts to see a splendid 95,000 dollar sports car (something like 81,000 euros) torn to pieces and reduced to a hardly recoverable scrap.

But if this serves to facilitate the work of the fire brigade and rescuers in the event of serious accidents - and therefore to save lives - then it seems more than justified.

That's when it happened in Dearborn, a city near Detroit in Michigan, known for being the historic headquarters of Ford.

Experts from the Dearborn Fire Department, the local division of the Fire Brigade, organized with the collaboration of the Blue Oval House an education session for colleagues literally tearing apart a flamboyant Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 model year 2020, equipped with the Carbon Fiber Track Pack, a coupe that with this option has a price that is close to 100 thousand dollars (85 thousand euros).

Using electro-hydraulic tools that function as separators and shears, as well as other specific tools for working on accident vehicles, the Dearborn Brigade removed the roof of the Mustang - necessary for rescue if the doors do not open and cannot be forced or cut after impact - and they also dissected the engine hood with surgical precision, demonstrating techniques for not chipping cables and pipes.

A set of operations and exercises that is essential to ensure maximum safety for both those who are rescued and the rescuers.

To the consolation of Mustang enthusiasts and, in general, of those who 'suffer' from seeing cars of this level destroyed, it should be noted that usually these interventions are made on pre-production models, or even assembled specifically for photo shoots or exhibitions, and therefore not approved for road circulation and sale.
